Cyclic Fault Slip Under the Magnifier: Co‐ and Postseismic Response of the Pamir Front to the 2015 <i>M</i> _w 7.2 Sarez, Central Pamir, Earthquake

The constant increase of geodetic instrumentation over the past decades enables us to not only detect ever smaller tectonic signals but also monitor their evolution in time and space. We present spatial temporal slip variations observed on a fault affected by large, intermediate-field earthquake: 2015 Mw7.2 Sarez, Central Pamir, earthquake ruptured sinistral, NE-trending Sarez-Karakul system. 120–170 km North main rupture, thin-skinned, E-trending Pamir thrust system bounding was co-seismically activated. derived co-seismic offsets post-seismic rates two dense, high-rate Global Positioning System (GPS) profiles crossing at different longitudes. continuous GPS observations western profile focus dextral, NW-striking Aramkungey segment that connects faults with opposite dip. compare inter-, co- displacement complementing data survey-mode East from satellite radar interferometric time-series. All stations were shifted toward epicenter against direction interseismic load an increased gradient segment. During postseismic stage, fault-parallel fault-perpendicular differently, suggesting gradual re-locking after its unlocking right-lateral slip.
